2005 Bear Season
MaineBearHunters.com
is Proud to Announce:
Bear Baiting, Hounds and Trapping Continues As a Respected Heritage and Effective Harvest method for Maine's Black Bear Population.
Sportsman can STILL come to Maine and enjoy one of the largest and BEST bear hunting States east of the Mississippi River!

November 2nd, 2004 Sportsman Defeated
and had to overcome an emotional television advertising
campaign that was primarily funded by two national animal rights groups. PAC reports filed with the state of Maine, showed that 95% of the financial support behind Question 2, came from two national
anti-hunting groups. Supporters of the referendum spent over
$1 million dollars primarily in television advertising.

People from Maine understand that ALL animals must be harvested and regulated through SOUND management practices. Our DIF&W's Staff of highly educated biologists have been providing Maine's Wildlife Species with the true respect that they deserve for management of each species, health, and diversity along side Human Versus Animal population growth needs.

Groups like these need to stay within their own knowledge base which is spaying and neutering domestic Cats and Dogs and leave the managing of wildlife to the professional State Biologists that spend their lives studying harvest and population growth of "Wild Animals" here in Maine. The next time you donate your hard earned dollars to The Humane Society, make sure they are taking care of your domestic pets and not funding legislation to ban "proper and sound" game management practices.

Donna Hand -Mays Landing, NJ
373 pound male
August 30th - New Sweden, Maine
I have been a New Jersey resident all my life. I have had my hunting license since 1989. Never have I gotten a deer. In August of this year (2004) My fiancé and myself and a few other guys went to New Sweden, Maine. For me it was my first big game hunt. We went for black bear. We went with a guide service, Auntie's Cabin. I did everything I could to keep my confidence up. The first day of the hunt was August 30, 2004, Monday. I went out to my tree stand around PM and sat for a while when all of a sudden here he came! What an adrenaline rush! Then he turned around and walked out. My heart sank. 5 minutes later he came back in! it was PM. I took my shot, (Shot him with a 20 gauge Remington 870 express Magnum, used Brenneke 2 3/4 Mag load slug.) He ran about 40 feet and dropped! He was 373 lbs! Not bad for my first big game hunt on the first night no less. As far as I know I still have the biggest bear in that town for the 2004 season.
Donna's fiancé took a 195 pound bear on this same trip!
Now that vehicle was loaded down headed back to NJ!
